Astrid Haug
SPEAKER CITIZEN 2026 | Astrid is one of Scandinavia’s sharpest voices on digital sovereignty. At Kommunikationsdøgn 2025 in Denmark, she challenged municipalities to reconsider their dependence on Meta and X. Not just as a practical GDPR risk, but as a question of democratic values.

Can we — and should we — break free from Big Tech's platforms?
Astrid Haug is a Danish author, speaker, and consultant with over ten years of experience at the intersection of technology, democracy, and climate. Through her own company, Astrid Haug ApS, she has advised organisations ranging from DR to Novo Nordisk on digital strategy and responsible technology use.
Her latest book, Guld i muld, explores citizen involvement in local energy projects — a testament to her broader belief that communities can and should take back ownership, both digitally and physically.
Astrid's message is direct: municipalities have lulled themselves into believing they cannot do without Big Tech's platforms. They can, and they should.
